It is a talismanic symbol that is believed will protect the wearer from harm against evil forces and bring them goodness, abundance, fertility, luck and good health. Hamsa is an icon used by many as a defense in their struggle against the forces of evil. This bracelet in particular also had the evil eye within it which is said to ward off negative energy.
